Squid Game Season 2 was lazy. The 7th episode was so different and slightly interesting at first. It ended as if it were an end of a chapter instead of an end of a book which didn’t upset me, but the problem is that I didn’t feel anything at all. It made me disinterested in the story and shrug off its anti-climatic end. The very end of the episode was very predictable, and it started to feel like they were just filling time. As I watched 001 play along like he was one of the gang, I silently hoped the end of this chapter wouldn’t be the same old double crossing classic of American cinema. I would have liked to see 001 go even further, but how very dull he turned out to be.
Season 3 was produced at the same time as season 2 which translates to: “we need to milk Squid Game for everything it is worth and keep people subscribed by cutting a longer season in half.” Somebody obviously felt that ending was a big enough climax, but it wasn’t surprising at all. None of the episode was surprising, and I just felt like it was a fever dream of nonsense. It was a big delusion with no clear end and a waste of the viewers time. Squid Game usually is a nail biter, but as they played airsoft in a world of illusion, I just kept waiting for it to end and when it did, I just shrugged. Squid Game went from nail biter to shrug worthy in about 30 minutes.
001 is a very jealous person though, isn’t he? My only wonder is what would have happened if he was chosen instead of the best friend.
